TOKYO — She has been doing this for 20 years now, swinging her open right palm at a 9.5-ounce sphere of synthetic leather with as much force as she can muster from her 6-foot-2 frame. Jordan Larson has been on the U.S. women’s national volleyball team since 2009. She has played professionally in Bayamon, Puerto Rico; Kazan, Russia; Istanbul and Shanghai. She has raised championship trophies and worn medals around her neck in arenas from Milan to Nanjing, China, to Bangkok — and, of course, London and Rio de Janeiro.
