Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been speaking to the media ahead of their opening Champions League group game against Leipzig tomorrow.
City are looking to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to Chelsea in the final in May.
“Sport is always a new challenge. What happened in the past happened in the past, it’s a new competition,” said Guardiola.
“We lost the final against a good contender. We’ll try again but every team wants to win. We have to prepare well for the game and continue the rhythm of the last few games. We were at a high level and we have to continue this way.”
The Spaniard is expecting a tough test ahead of City’s first-ever meeting with the German side.
“Leipzig always very good – they have a strong philosophy. Young players, dynamic, physical, strong.
“One step at a time. Tomorrow (we play) Leipzig, and always important to start well, especially at home.”
